Gallery Business: Welcome back! Grant Miller was at NSLA last week. The semester is off to a good start!

Student Alumni Council Club Report:

Student Organization Coordinator Nicole Nobbs reported for club president, Madison Dirks. The SAC serves to connect with alumni and serve however possible. During events such as homecoming when alumni come to campus, they assist with these. They also supply birthday treats and finals week survival kits to students if parents choose to purchase them.

Systems Club Report: Luke Vaartstra shared that they meet once a month. This is a safe space to talk about mental health issues. They are fundraising for a conference in the spring and selling chocolates which have been donated to them. Last semester they visited a memory care facility, singing carols and spending time with residents.

Brick House Report: Grant Miller shared on behalf of the BH, for which internet service has been an ongoing issue. At the end of last spring, CableOne was cancelled, but there are no other wireless options so they ended up going back to this. In December there was an issue with billing, due to an error on the company’s end, so service was cancelled over break due to lack of payment. Fortunately, Grant got everything straightened out with a better deal. One concern is that there is a data cap, but we’re currently tracking well. The current question is sustainability, with the cap and cost.

SGA Officer Reports:

President D’Orazio: David Kohagen shared that Josh has been at NSLA. Reminded everyone they are doing a phenomenal job.

Social VP MacDonald: Thanked everyone for coming to Week Back. Black Tie is in one month!

Business Manager Rick: Got a lot of work done over break, reworking some things for this semester. Working on issues that carried over from last semester plus housekeeping.

Club Coordinator Nobbs: Connecting with clubs, club fair or club week. Spreadsheet allowing clubs to sign up for Senate reporting. Working to set up a meeting with VP of the Well.

Community Relations Coordinator Dringenberg: Met with new and improved serve team. New vision for this semester: different service project each month, each focusing on a different community group. Dates to come.

Campus Ministries Coordinator Fast: Timeout is tonight! Alison Edwards is speaking. Winter Awakening is one month away, right before Black Tie. Looking at potential dates for some events after Winter Awakening. Watch for those!

Athletic Liaison Mahowald: Looking ahead to theme nights, shirts, and giveaways for this semester. Two men’s basketball games this week!

Intramural Overlord  Johnson: Intramurals are up, games start next week!

Publicity Director Kohagen: Making lots of posters! Jr/Sr Retreat is coming, watch for flyers! Also a Black Tie website coming soon.

Oasis Editor James: Another round of yearbook photos coming February 5-6 during lunch. Mapped out schedule for the yearbook, making spreads. etc.

Executive Secretary Rimer: This week, helped students with some miscellaneous tasks and helped clubs book spaces on campus.

Executive VP Akkerman: Getting things ready for tonight. Rec Center passes on sale. Senate wear confirmed. Looking for times to get together with Senators outside of Senate.

Committee Reports:

Judicial Committee: Last semester, thought they had tied things off with the Well, but things didn’t go over as planned, looking to meet with them to figure things out moving forward. Looking forward to this semester, it’s often for feelings to get hurt. Whatever we’re doing this semester, it will be done to the best of their abilities and handled well.

Ways and Means Committee: Felt like they rocked it last semester. Budgeting went smoothly, working with a new system (spotlight Hannah). Felt their committee stepped up. Looking forward to budgeting this semester, and anything else that comes their way.

Campus Life Committee: Started off strong last semester and had good ideas about connecting with student body. Got ideas rolling and in the process, working on follow-through this semester. Looking for a time to meet and to meet more frequently this semester.

Old Business: No old business.

New Business: No new business.

Motion to adjourn: Senator Largent.

Second: Senator Stuhr.

Vote: 11 of 11 approved.

Adjournment: 7:53pm
