ASNNU Senate: October 3rd, 2018

Call to Order: 7:32pm

Opening Prayer: Senator Appleby

Sophomore Class President Statement: Joshua Rohnert resigned from presidency. Due to a concussion he is unable to carry out the semester, and therefore resigns.

Vote to accept resignation: 12 of 12 approved.


Gallery Business: Grant Miller first thanked Josh Rohnert for serving class president, and expressed his hopes of a quick recovery for Josh.

FCA Report: Justin Higgins shared that FCA meets on Monday nights in the JSC, and is a national club that works to bring together student athletes. Our school’s chapter is fortunate to have a regional director. Their mission is to bring Christian athletes together for times of fellowship. This is done through activities such as their weekly meetings where they often bring in speakers, and a camp they host in the summer for kids. Their funds go toward providing snacks for their gatherings, t-shirts, and Bibles for people who need them.

Brick House Report: Micah Tranch reported the BH has their next campfire hangout tomorrow night, starting at 7pm, and all are invited. Planning is in the works for a Halloween party.

SGA Officer Reports:

President D’Orazio: Josh reported that he has been meeting with the Sophomore Class Council and that he will be stepping into Josh Rohnert’s role to aid with Fresheree planning until his role can be filled again.

Social VP MacDonald: Lots of planning for TWIRP right now, official announcement went out in chapel today.

Business Manager Rick: Shared the weekly subfund report, which has been revised to allow for comments to be made on the document as needed.

Club Coordinator Nobbs: President’s breakfast took place last weekend and went well. Today she finished a document that contains information about all the clubs which she’s been working on for some time.

Community Relations Coordinator Dringenberg: Met with clubs about Serve Week and about service requirements. Had a banner made to thank construction workers on campus, which is in the Student Center for people to sign.

Campus Ministries Coordinator Fast: Tonight in Timeout Emmy Jackson is speaking and Jessica Rimer is leading worship. Fall Revival is next week, with normal Timeout taking place and a special service happening on Thursday - be watching for more information on that.

Athletic Liaison Mahowald: Lots of games, soccer and volleyball this week. Shirts have been ordered and are coming soon.

Intramural Overlord  Johnson: Intramurals are still going, and going well.

Publicity Director Kohagen: Been updating the website, Instagram, and other routine things.

Oasis Editor James (Johnson?): Took lots of photos during the Fall Party last week, working on yearbook cover design, and meeting with his teams.

Executive Secretary Rimer: This week has been more of a routine week, in addition to working on getting student government members’ headshots up in the SGA display case. Name badges for SGA came, Kyle’s was wrong so a new one for him is coming.

Executive VP Akkerman: Working with the Sophomore Class Council to hold an emergency election for a new president. There are new bills being presented in Senate this week which she has been preparing. There are multiple items of new business tonight.

       

Committee Reports:

Judicial Committee: Nothing to report.

Ways and Means Committee: Meeting right after Senate tonight.

Campus Life Committee: Working to find a time to meet.

Old Business: No old business.
